Our trip to Colorado was wonderful. Occupying pride of place in our CD player were the following albums:
1) Regions of Light and Sound of God--Jim James. This cd gets better with each listen.
2) Hello--Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Perhaps the perfect cd for driving through the mountains.
3) The Head and the Heart. The eponymous debut of this Portland quintet is all rustic pop harmony.
4) The Lumineers. Delightful folk music/Americana.
5) Greatest Hits, Volume 1--John Denver. It's Colorado, of course we listened to JD.
6) Sigh No More and Babel--Mumford & Sons. A wee bit tired, but still great music.
7) Greatest Hits--Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Psychedelic virtuosity.
8) The Joshua Tree--U2. I'm not sure any other record, with the exception of The Unforgettable Fire, evokes the ethos of Western Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado better than JT. It is music designed for wide open spaces.
9) Z--My Morning Jacket. Is there a better song than "Gideon"?
10) The Innocent Age--Dan Fogelberg. Disc 1 takes me back to 7th grade ski trips to Breckenridge.
