1. Because we are unequivocal in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.
2. Because we are committed to be reformed and missional. We are true to the Scriptures, and committed to living outside of ourselves, for the sake of the Kingdom out of great love for our King.
3. Because we treasure humility. While sometimes denigrated as being "soft," our softness speaks to humility and respect for others. Power structures (and power trips) are recognized and held in check.
4. Because we are small. This is no organizational behemoth. We are a tight crew committed to the Kingdom.
5. Because even I, a transplant into the RCA (good Lutheran boy meets spectacular RCA girl), can walk through GS and know every other person. So thankful for Clarence, Chris, Jay, Jon, Jeff, Jen, April, Ben, David, Arlene, Mike, Tom, Tim, and on and on and on. I love these people, and it is a joy to be united with them.
6. Because even what is supposed to be a rather stuffy (and it is rather hot in here) gathering is a great encourager to LIVE AND SERVE BOLDLY for Christ and the Kingdom.
7. Because ecclesiology is tested and affirmed not in getting along, but in working through differences. We are surely going to do that over the next few days.
8. Because we have tremendously gifted leaders like Tom DeVries, Tim Brown, Tom Smith, Carl Boersma, David VanNingen, Chris Godfredsen, and so many others who love Jesus and love the Church.
9. Because despite all of our issues, differences, and dysfunctions, we are all intentionally trying to live in unity, purity, and peace.
10. Because we are Christ's Church, the Bride. However flawed we are, God loves and is faithful to his Bride!
